Giving Tuesday

It is amazing to know that there is now a day on the calendar that is dedicated to giving. During a season that generally encourages conspicuous consumption at all costs – get that bigger TV, that fancy car or that fourth pair of red pumps (because the other three are so last Spring), we are seeing a new pattern emerge – consumers not only wanting to shop for themselves, but also wanting to give to others in a meaningful way.  And now, we have a day dedicated to that notion.

Yoobi, through its One for You, One for Me mission, makes every day Giving Tuesday by making giving back as easy as pulling a Yoobi item off the shelf, or placing a Yoobi item into a virtual cart. Yep, every time a Yoobi items is sold, a Yoobi item is donated to a classroom in need right here the U.S. So Yoobi truly brings together the joy of shopping and giving for the first time in the school supply aisle.

In the month of November alone, Yoobi shoppers bought enough supplies to support nearly 1,000 classrooms or 25,000 elementary school kids in the U.S. with free school supplies.  In addition to the donations supported by Yoobi shoppers, the Yoobi Give Team traveled to Atlanta, GA and Bronx, NY to join our local partners, the Atlanta Community Food Bank and World Vision respectively, on a number of donation events to local schools. We also made a donation to the Los Angeles Children’s Hospital, through our nonprofit partner the Starlight Children’s Foundation, to ensure that their hospital classrooms are fully stocked with colorful tools for learning (more on this next month!). And, this week, we partnered withFrom One Hand To AnOTHER (Pharrell William’s nonprofit) to donate Yoobi Classroom Packs to impact over 600 students in Virginia Beach. Finally, our give team is hitting the road with the Yoobi bus, to bring Yoobi supplies [and joy] to thousands of kids in the Phoenix, AZ area.

As a token of our appreciation, on this Giving Tuesday, we are doubling our give – for every Yoobi item purchased today, we are donating DOUBLE the Yoobi items to our partner the Starlight Children’s Foundation.
