Yoobi Highlight: Schools That Can
At Yoobi, we believe that big problems require big solutions. Often the best solutions come when we draw from our collective experiences. A few years back, we were introduced to an organization called Schools That Can (STC), which leverages collective experience to solve some of the toughest challenges teachers and low-income communities face every day.
STC is a national cross-sector network of urban schools that work collaboratively with over 150 district, charter, independent, and faith-based school serving predominantly low-income communities. STC’s partnerships with education innovators train teachers in implementing real-world learning practices into their classrooms (i.e., project-based STEM, maker education, Deeper Learning).
A great opportunity for teachers comes each year at STC’s National Forum, hosted in a different city each year, which features workshops and sessions led by thought leaders and practitioners from across the country. The 2017 Forum will be in Pittsburgh on May 10-11 and will focus on “Real-World Learning for the 21st Century.” Sessions will focus on K-8 real-world learning, culturally relevant education, cultivating curiosity, connecting education to employment, and more. Click here for the agenda and here for registration. Email Casey Lamb for more information on the Forum or on joining STC’s network!
Thanks STC for all you do for teachers and schools across the country!
